What is the work of the UNLOCKED Foundation and how is it advancing the mission?
The UNLOCKED Foundation's mission is to empower women by providing them with education, networks, and resources to close the wealth gap in their own lives. Through virtual and in-person programs for our 1,200 global members and by highlighting for those members professional resources like psychologists, career advisors, executive coaches, and salary negotiators, UNLOCKED aims to cultivate a culture where women are confident in their worth, recognize their value, advocate for themselves, and claim their rightful place at the financial table.

Why is the organization helping professional women as opposed to entry level or minimum wage workers?
Despite common assumptions, studies show that the pay gap tends to widen as women achieve higher levels of education and professional success. Moreover, as little as a 20% pay gap for a woman can lead to an 85% wealth gap over the course of her career. This troubling trend reveals that discrimination persists even when women pursue traditional avenues of empowerment such as education and career advancement. To effectively address these disparities, it is crucial to empower all working women, including those in the professional class and executive levels, not just those in entry-level or minimum wage positions.

Why does Unlocked host elevated events?
The UNLOCKED Foundation unapologetically stands for women and wealth building. One of the by-products of wealth building is the ability to enjoy elevated experiences. By hosting events in elevated spaces, we communicate to our members that they are worthy of wealth and the experiences that wealth affords. We are fortunate to have partners that recognize and support our mission. As a part of their support, our partners offer exclusive experiences to our community either for free or at a low or deeply discounted cost.

Is the UNLOCKED Foundation a charitable organization?
The UNLOCKED Foundation is not a charitable organization - it is, however, a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit. A non-profit is an organization not making or conducted primarily to make a profit. 501(c)(3) is the primary status through which donations made to the organization are tax-deductible. 501(c)(3) status is regulated and administered by the US Department of Treasury through the Internal Revenue Service. Consistent with the UNLOCKED Foundation’s non-profit status, 100% of our donations go towards programming. Further, the entire board and staff consist of volunteers, periodically supplemented by event management support.
In contrast, a charitable organization is an organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. A charity may be a non-profit, but the definitions are not the same. While the UNLOCKED Foundation operates for civic improvement, the diverse array of its members and those benefited by its work make it more appropriately categorized as a non-profit as opposed to a charity.

How much money do you need to be a donor to UNLOCKED?
Anyone who provides money to UNLOCKED is by definition one of its donors. We are grateful to all of our donors and provide distinct and recognized benefits for donors beginning at $50 a month or $500 contributions to our organization. However, there is no income requirement or criteria to be considered a donor. Indeed, a philanthropist is defined as any person who donates time, money, experience, skills or talent to help create a better world. Anyone can be a philanthropist, regardless of status or net worth.
