2023 Women’s Wealth SUMMIT

At the Unlocked Foundation, we believe in the power of women supporting women. That's why we recently hosted our first Women x Wealth Summit in partnership with UBS, a three-day event that brought together inspiring women from various industries to discuss financial empowerment and celebrate the start of Art Basel in Miami. Our goal was to create a safe space for women to share their experiences, learn from each other, and gain the tools necessary to take control of their financial futures.

We kicked off the summit on December 4th at the Blade West Lounge in New York City, where our guests gathered to celebrate the takeoff to Art Basel. The atmosphere was electric as attendees engaged in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring influential women such as Melissa Tomkiel, President & General Counsel of Blade, Roisin Branch, CMO of Blade, Melissa Dincher, Wealth Advisor at UBS, and Rachelle LaRoche, Unlocked Board Member. As the conversation flowed, so did the complimentary signature cocktails by 818 Tequila, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience.

The following day, the Women’s Wealth Summit warmly welcomed over 60 attendees to Oolite Arts in Miami for a half-day of impactful conversations centered on financial empowerment for enterprising women, followed by a hosted reception. The panels commenced with opening remarks from Laura Guerrero, Programs Coordinator at Oolite Arts, and Savaria Harris, the Executive Director of Unlocked Foundation. Guests gathered to enjoy panel discussions, such as  “Standing in the Gap: Stories of Women dealing with the Pay Gap,” moderated by Sade Muhammad, CMO of TIME, and featuring panelists including Jeanine Conley Daves, Managing Shareholder at Littler, Simona Gaudio, CMO of Glamsquad, and Alison Overholt, Media Executive and Journalist.

Amidst Miami Art Week, another highlight of the day was the panel on “The Art World’s Equal Pay Problem: Stories of Pay Gap in the Art World” moderated by Savaria Harris. Panelists included Storm Ascher, Founder and Curator of Superposition Gallery, artist Gisela McDaniel, Lisa Altshuler, Museum Administrator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Music Curator Kaysy Gotay.

The panels concluded with “Taking Control of Our Earning Power: Tools and Strategies to Close Your Pay Gap.” Panelists included Mental Health Expert Dr. Robin Smith, Jasmine Escalera, founder of Jasmine Escalera Coaching, and Rachelle Laroche, a Board Member of the Unlocked Foundation. Liz Markus, a Board Member of the Unlocked Foundation, gave the closing remarks.

Following the panel discussions, guests gathered for an artful evening reception with a DJ set by Young Wavy Fox, where they enjoyed rosé provided by Whispering Angel, the official rosé of Art Basel.

The three-day program concluded with an invite-only event at the Ted Baker Lincoln Road store, where attendees celebrated the start of Art Basel with complimentary hair and makeup by Glamsquad, and enjoyed jazz and conversations with artists while shopping for a good cause. Attendees received a 25% discount, and with each purchase, Ted Baker donated 10% to the Unlocked Foundation to support their initiatives.
